Information
Created in 1765, the Hennessy brand was born of the vision of one man, Richard Hennessy. An Irish officer enlisted in Louis XV's army, Hennessy very quickly saw cognac's potential on the international market. He set up his own bottling business and founded a dynasty that would span eight generations. Hennessy soon acquired a reputation for exceptional cognacs and the appellations it created were used by all of the other cognac brands, including Very Old Superior Old Pale (VSOP) and Extra Old (XO). In 250 years Hennessy has remained the world leader in cognac.
The Richard Hennessy cognac is now considered one of the finest cognacs in the world. Crafted in homage to the founder of the house, it is made especially for fans of fine cognac. In the bottle we find two centuries of history, knowledge, and expertise. It has a unique composition of rare eaux-de-vie bottled in hand-blown, crystal carafes.
In the glass we find a deep, amber colour that justly introduces an intense aromatic bouquet. It has a nose of white flowers, gentle spices (cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon), fennel, leather, and nuts.
This is a rare bottle to be opened and sipped at a fittingly special moment. If you’d like to pair it with something, we recommend a coffee baba, or a characterful cheese like refined Roquefort.
