Information
This original whiskey is from a micro-distillery near Spokane, Washington in the north-west United States. Founded by Don Poffenroth and Kent Fleischmann in 2007, its name echoes the fly fishing so popular in this humid region. All the grains used in its range of spirits (gin, vodka and whiskey) are grown near the distillery.
For this bottling, the owners used Triticale, a hybrid grain made from wheat and rye. Before being bottled at cask strength, it was matured for four years in casks previously used for cognac.
The nose is intense and rich, becoming more subtle once allowed to breathe. A pell-mell of fruit, herbaceous and spicy notes are found alongside sweeter notes like chocolate. The finish is long and rich, with lots of different flavours, red fruits and beeswax leading the pack, all creating an exceptional tasting experience.
