Information
Ballard Canyon enjoys a Mediterranean climate with abundant sunshine moderated by Pacific breezes. The sandy, clay and loam soils are poor and well drained, naturally limiting yields and concentrating flavour in the berries. This produces dense yet balanced wines that combine depth, freshness and an elegant tannic structure. In the winery, vinification is carried out traditionally with minimal intervention. The wine is then aged in barriques, with around 40% new oak.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep purple hue with garnet glints The nose is intense and complex, delivering blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry enriched by notes of liquorice, tobacco and gentle spice. The velvety, structured palate reveals fine yet powerful tannins supported by remarkable freshness. The long, persistent finish weaves together black fruit, bitter cocoa, cedar and a refined mineral edge.
