Wine for sale: Burgundy POMMARD

| 157 results

The Pommard appellation is one of the most legendary in the Côte de Beaune. It was officially created in 1936, covering an area between Volnay and Beaune. The influential role of the Dukes of Burgundy and the Church shaped this AOC’s history. Today it covers 315 hectares, including 117 hectares classified as premier cru. Les Rugiens and Les Epenots are two of the 28 premiers crus in the appellation. The soils of all its vineyards are composed of limestone and marl. Pommard is known for producing wines made exclusively from Pinot Noir. They express notes of black fruit and a fine, elegant texture on the palate. Their full potential is revealed after a few years’ cellaring.

Estates worth remembering include Coche Dury, Comte Armand, Philippe Pacalet and Armand Heitz-Lochardet, not forgetting Prunier-Damy, Lucien Boillot & Fils and Joseph Voillot.
