The wine

This cuvée ferments for six months with native yeast then aged in barrels for 26 months on fine lees. Its nose is rather discreet, with fruity (apricot, citrus) and floral (linden) aromas, embellished with notes of almonds. On the palate it is fruity and fresh, with fine rich, citrus flavours, jasmine and fresh grass. The long finish gives it a nice bitterness with hints of toasted almond.

This top-class domain in Savennières has made remarkable year-on-year progress. The dynamic Evelyne de Pontbriand has put all her energy (and she has plenty) into enhancing the potential of Domaine du Closel's different terroirs. The wines are planted over 14 hectares and cultivated biodynamically. Extremely precise vinification and élevages show off the variations in soil and exposure in Savennières to perfection. An excellent Loire name.
