A Riesling wonderfully balanced between silkiness and minerality. A German gem that only this iconic Riesling country could craft so well!
More infoThis high-quality Riesling comes from 30-60 year-old vines grown in schist soils with a volcanic influence. To make it, the domain chose to harvest late and by hand (at the end of October, even the start of November) along with an élevage in barrels in order to preserve the Riesling’s delicate floral and fruity notes. It carries distinctive tasting notes of rose and cumin. Its silky texture is balanced by a superb minerality which results in a wonderful richness.
About the Producer Van Volxem
Van Volxem is one of the oldest domains in the Saar Valley, growing its grapes on steep, schist terraces overlooking the water. Roman Nirwodniczanski is at the helm, and he produces fine Riesling wines that are dry and sweet. Thanks to meticulous work inspired by organic agriculture and to extremely precise vinification, the wines express the full purity of their micro-terroir. With excellent ageing potential, they stand out for their energy and minerality. As you can see, this domain is a soon-to-be icon that you'd be a fool to miss out on!
