Weather conditions
The year was marked by constant weather fluctuations, from early warmth in January to cold spells in spring. Budding began at the end of March, with Chardonnay emerging before Pinot Noir. Coulure affected especially Chardonnay due to water shortages.
Summer brought storms, hail, and uneven rainfall, alongside heatwaves in July and August. Tropical nights and high temperatures impacted ripening, followed by cooler conditions that slowed sugar accumulation.
Harvest
Crémant harvests began at the start of September, followed by still wines throughout the month. Red grapes ripened earlier, but generous yields required patience before picking.
Profile of the wine
Despite a challenging season, yields were abundant. White wines reached good ripeness, offering rich and complex aromatics with freshness, reminiscent of 2018 Chardonnay. Reds show expressive fruit and floral notes, dense textures, and silky tannins, though they are not among the most concentrated vintages. The wines are flavourful and best enjoyed in the shorter to medium term.
