Log on to Zoom and join iDealwine in conversation with general manager and oenologist Philippe Guigal, who will guide the tasting and take guests on a (virtual) journey through some of the most famous vines in the Côte Rôtie appellation, including the legendary La Las - La Landonne, La Mouline, La Turque.

You will hear all about the past and present of the château and its wines, the winemaking approach and philosophy of Guigal – all from its general manager and oenologist Philippe Guigal. We will then move on to the best part, the tasting. The event will last approximately 1 hour and will be followed by a Q&A.

Situé à Ampuis, le berceau des vins de Côte-Rôtie, le domaine Guigal fut fondé en 1946 par Etienne Guigal, arrivé dans la région en 1923 dès l'âge de 14 ans, qui œuvra à l'essor de l'appellation de Côte-Rôtie. En 1961, c'est son fils, le jeune Marcel Guigal, qui reprend les rênes de la maison auprès de son père, brusquement frappé de cécité totale. Aujourd'hui, la relève est assurée par Philippe Guigal, le fils de Marcel, brillant œnologue, et fier représentant de la troisième génération.
Aujourd'hui, le vignoble s'étend aussi sur toutes les appellations prestigieuses de la vallée du Rhône : Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Hermitage, Gigondas, Crozes-Hermitage. Elles sont toutes vinifiées et élevées dans les caves d'Ampuis. Un soin considérable est apporté à l'ensemble des tâches vitivinicoles : lutte raisonnée (certifiée HVE), travail entièrement manuel dû à l'inclinaison des parcelles, vinifications en cuves inox thermo-régulées, élevage en fûts de chêne neufs (jusqu’à 42 mois pour certaines cuvées) pour permettre au vin d'affirmer pleinement ses arômes, etc. La maison produit trois cuvées « prestige » - La Landonne, La Mouline et La Turque - un sublime triptyque que s'arrachent les passionnés de côte-rôtie.
En matière de patrimoine également, l'illustre domaine se distingue : le siège social est situé au Château d'Ampuis, un joyau de la Renaissance protégé au titre des Monuments Historiques. La maison Guigal est l'une des plus emblématiques de la vallée du Rhône, elle brille pour sa régularité sans faille et sa rigueur d'approvisionnement en raisins.
